Welcome to St. Mary’s Prep

Welcome to the St. Mary’s College Preparatory School website. I hope you find these pages useful and that they give you a flavour of our history, organisation and values.

As a past pupil of the school, it is my privilege to be the Headmaster of St. Mary’s Prep and I am tremendously fortunate to work alongside colleagues and pupils who demonstrate the ethos and attitude to education that I have been fortunate enough to experience myself from a young age.

Every child here will be able to tell you that our ‘Number 1 School Rule is… To Be Kind’, and this is the starting point from which we build the experience of life here at St. Mary’s Prep.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced, offering children the opportunity to experience both success and failure, so that we can support them with the emotions that both of these scenarios evoke. Our pupils learn that achievement is not only measured in standardised scores but also by how you behave towards others and that personal progress is worth far more than 10/10 on a spelling test.

In an increasingly fast paced, modern world, we aim to give our pupils the chance to slow things down and find enjoyment in activities that can be overlooked at times like gardening, listening to stories or walking to the beach.

All this is done with the central idea that each child has their own excellence, and it is our responsibility to find this and nurture it throughout their time with us.

I hope that you enjoy finding out about our school. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit please contact the school office.

I look forward to welcoming you to St. Mary’s College Preparatory School.
