St Mary's College Parents' Association held a very successful Valentine's Day dinner dance at the weekend.  Around 100 people attended the event at West Lancs Golf Club, enjoying a three-course meal and entertainment from popular soul singer Steve Charles.

Thanks to ticket sales, an auction and a raffle the dance is expected to have raised more than £1,600 for college funds.

Parents' Association Chair Janet Bingham - organising her first major event since taking up the role last autumn - said: "The evening was a big success - the food was very good and the singer had everyone up on the dance floor.  All the feedback I've had since the dinner has been extremely positive, so I'm delighted that guests have had a really good time and that we've raised a very healthy amount for the school into the bargain."
