Students Brew Up to Raise £110 for Charity
Students at St Mary’s College in Crosby have been brewing up to raise cash for a very good cause.
In what has developed into a regular fundraiser at the school, sixth formers served morning refreshments to teachers and other staff in the school library at the Coffee and Cakes event.
Fortunately it wasn’t all hard work. After completing their waiting-on
duties they were able to sit down and enjoy some of the delicious cakes that had been donated themselves.
In total, the event helped to raise £110 for Children with Leukaemia, the UK’s leading charity dedicated exclusively to fighting Britain’s biggest childhood cancer.
Coffee and Cakes was organised by St Mary’s College Librarian, Cath Howard, who commented: “This event has become something of a tradition at the school and it is always very popular.
“As well as giving staff and students the opportunity to get together in a social setting, it enables us to raise funds for some very good causes, in this case a charity that helps to fund research into leukaemia as well as supporting families affected by the disease.”
