Pupils Collect Cans for City Homeless
Pupils at St Mary's College in Crosby have been displaying a ‘can-do' attitude to their latest charitable project.
Students have been collecting tinned food for homeless people in Liverpool as part of the school's annual Lent fundraising campaign.
Hundreds of cans have been donated by families and friends and these are being given to the Seel Street Mission for the homeless in the city centre.
This shelter is run by the Liverpool convent of the Missionaries of Charity, the order of nuns established by Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
St Mary's Principal, Mike Kennedy, commented: ‘Every year in the run-up to Easter our pupils throw themselves heart and soul into helping people less fortunate than themselves.
‘The can collection, which is just one of a number of charitable initiatives this year, will be much appreciated by the sisters of the Missionaries of Charity who do such an excellent job helping the homeless in the city.'
