Money raised by the concert will help to support the work of CAFOD (the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) which fights poverty and injustice in the developing world.
The young musicians performed a wide range of music including Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Gershwin’s An American in Paris, selections from Fiddler on the Roof, the Rhythm of Life from the musical Sweet Charity and even an arrangement of some traditional Aboriginal music. The concert was conducted by St Mary’s Head of Music Simon Emery and colleague Andrew Byers.
Mr Emery commented: ‘Our concerts at the Philharmonic Hall are always one of the highlights of the school calendar and we were absolutely delighted to be staging our tenth anniversary event this year.
‘A lot of hard work goes into the evening but it’s wonderful to see pupils of all ages rise to the occasion and perform at such a high standard in what is a spectacular setting.

'The performances this year were once again superb, reflecting the commitment and effort of everyone who took part.
‘Special mention must be made of the choir from the Mount prep school which brought the house down with their performance of Hats,’ added Mr Emery.
