Mission Week
St Mary's College recently held its annual Mission Week celebrations, an in-depth exploration of all aspects of faith and spirituality.
For the fifth year running, the event was organised in partnership with Animate, the Archdiocese of Liverpool¹s youth service.
During the week, pupils of all ages and staff were involved in a wide range of activities focusing on the 2008 World Youth Day theme of ‘receive the power'.
These activities - linked to the subject areas of music, art and design and technology - were used to highlight the importance of spirituality in terms of living a full life and caring for others.
The week culminated with a family mass at which children and teachers were joined by parents, friends and members of the local community.
St Mary's spokesman, Dr Trevor Lane, commented: "This was another very successful Mission Week thanks to the enthusiastic involvement of everyone at the school. We would like to express our appreciation to Animate for their contribution to this success - they developed a programme of activities that put the spotlight on spirituality in a vivid and powerful way."
