Leading Journalist and Documentary Maker set to Return to Former School
A few tickets are still available for a special event later this month when a leading national journalist and documentary maker returns to his former school in Crosby.
Will Hanrahan will be the VIP guest at the fourth annual reunion event of the organisation for former pupils, parents, governors and staff of St Mary’s College.
The Friends of St Mary’s event will take place at West Lancashire Golf Club in Blundellsands on the evening of Saturday November 20th.
Will Hanrahan, who was brought up in Bootle, left St Mary’s in 1977 and qualified as a journalist three years later.
After joining the BBC he worked as a reporter on local and national radio, before graduating to national TV as a presenter and producer on high-profile programmes such as Panorama and Watchdog, the breakfast show Good Morning and the flagship BBC Nine O’Clock News bulletin.
Will set up his own independent production company - HanrahanMedia - in 1994. The firm’s output has included award-winning documentaries as well as entertainment programmes for the national networks such as Carol Vorderman’s SuDoKu Live and Stars And Their Lives.
Will Hanrahan will be following in the footsteps of another high-profile media industry figure as the VIP guest at the Friends dinner. Last year’s speaker was former BBC Director-General, Lord John Birt, who left St Mary’s in 1963.
* Tickets for the Friends dinner, priced at £35 each, can be ordered by phone from the college on 0151-924 3926 or online at www.friendsofstmarys.com.
