‘It's a Wrap’ for Year 8 Pupils
Year 8 pupils at St Mary’s College in Crosby were given some food for thought during citizenship lessons recently.
Staff decided to put the spotlight on healthy eating by teaching the children about the preservatives and additives that can be found in ready meals and fizzy drinks.

Some of the year 8 pupils are pictured with their food and drink creations.
The youngsters were then introduced to a range of healthy food and drink alternatives, with each pupil being given the opportunity to make a wrap using ingredients chosen from a range of fresh, natural fillings.
Pupils also had the chance to create their own ‘mocktails’ by blending a selection of different fruit juices.
St Mary’s Canteen Manageress Tracey Gogarty, who organised the session, said: “This was a very enjoyable way of getting across what is a very serious and important message about healthy eating.
“The pupils certainly seemed to enjoy experimenting with a wide variety of fresh foods and the bonus of a healthy snack during the lesson was also very well received,” added Mrs Gogarty.
