GCSE Results
St Mary’s College is celebrating another excellent crop of GCSE results this year.
More than 97 per cent of the school’s candidates have achieved five A*-C grades with 27 students - more than a third - achieving eight A grades or better. Five of these pupils gained ten A* passes each.

St Mary’s Principal, Mike Kennedy, said: “An outstanding year’s work has borne fruit once again. I am very pleased with these results which are a testament to the hard work of our students and the support they have received from staff and parents throughout their time at the school.” Mr Kennedy pointed out that the students with ten A* passes have also been remarkably successful in other fields.

For example, Laura Halsall swims for the Great Britain Catholic Schools team and Eleanor James and Ellen Thomas represent the North of England at hockey.
He said: “We consistently find that those who contribute the most to the wider life of the school also get the most out of it and almost always they are amongst the highest achievers - we congratulate them wholeheartedly.” Mr Kennedy added: “Achieving excellent results at GCSE level is a great foundation on which young people can build future success at A level, at university and in their chosen careers. All our students and their families should be very proud of what they have achieved.”
