Friends of St Mary's Launch New Website
The organisation for former pupils, parents, staff and governors of St Mary's College has launched a new website for everyone with an interest in the school.
Visitors to www.friendsofstmarys.com will find a wealth of information about St Mary's
past and present.
Photographically, more than 75 years separate the oldest shot on the site - a 1932
St Mary's rugby team - from the newest which captures a Friends wine tasting event
held just a few weeks ago.
Musical highlights on the site range from the college Stage Band playing Sweet Georgia
Brown at a dinner in 2008 to a rousing rendition of the school song by the ‘class of 1973'
at a reunion event.
Elsewhere, there are biographies of famous former pupils including poet Roger McGough,
broadcasters Laurie Taylor and Will Hanrahan, Archbishop of Birmingham Vincent Nichols
and Sir Ivor Roberts, President of Trinity College Oxford and former British Ambassador to Italy.
Pupils from down the years can also use the site to search for their former classmates,
share their memories and offer their support to the school today.
Michael Mansour, Chair of the Friends of St Mary's, commented: "We are really pleased
with the look and content of the new site which has been designed to meet the needs of
the national and international family of people with a connection to St Mary's.
"The site will help them to maintain their links with the school, and to keep up to date
with all our latest developments, wherever they are based."
Mr Mansour added: "Since the launch of the Friends less than two years ago our
membership has grown to almost 1,000, an impressive group of people with the
potential to play a very active role in the college's future development.
"We are keen to hear from other people with a connection to the school who would
like to be part of this growing family."
