Bright Tie Day
Students at St. Mary’s College in Crosby have been sticking their necks out for charity. As part of the school’s annual Lent fundraising campaign, pupils organised a bright tie day which saw them paying £1 to don the flashiest neckwear they could find. The festival of colourful ties was just one of a wide range of charitable activities organised at St. Mary’s in recent weeks. When all the donations have been received and counted, the total amount raised could top £1,000.
Good causes to benefit will include Nugent Care’s Good Shepherd Appeal, Zoe’s Place, Help for Heroes and the Liverpool-based Asylum Link Merseyside drop-in centre. Donations will also be made to Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid and the Seel Street Mission for the homeless in Liverpool city centre.
St. Mary’s Principal, Mike Kennedy, said: “I would like to pay tribute to all our students who have put a huge amount of time and effort into organising a wide variety of fundraising activities this term. “Their willingness to consider and help others is truly inspiring and shows what a special place St. Mary’s is.”
