BP Carbon Challenge Tour Stops off at St. Mary's College
St Mary’s College in Crosby was one of the latest dates on a national tour by the BP Carbon Challenge roadshow.

The event - organised by BP¹s Enterprising Science programme - gave fourth year pupils at the school the chance to examine St Mary’s carbon footprint and learn about carbon reduction using a variety of interactive techniques. The roadshow also encouraged students to examine the social, environmental and economic implications of this key issue and to develop a carbon reduction plan for a fictional Carbon College. BP chiefs say the roadshow mixes elements of maths, science and enterprise to give pupils the information and skills they need to answer the question ‘how green is our school?’ St Mary’s Head of Science, Bob Johnston, commented: ‘This was a very exciting day which enabled our pupils to think carefully about how we can prevent further damage to the planet. ‘Now we intend to form a committee of students who will investigate how the school’s carbon footprint can be reduced.’
