Who's the fittest in the school ?
It appears that Michael Bennett is the fittest boy in the school. In his GCSE PE lesson yesterday, Michael scored a remarkable 16.1 on the Multi-stage fitness or bleep test. Michael has represented Sefton Schools at football playing alongside cousin Anthony. He also represents the school in athletics, cross country and rugby.
The bleep test or Multi-stage fitness test is a good indicator of fitness levels. Cones are set 20 metres apart and competitors have to reach the other end when the audio system sounds a bleep. The bleeps are well apart to begin with but as the levels go on, the time taken to get to the other end gets shorter and shorter. Each level lasts one minute and by about level 9 the pupils are running at quite a pace.
Charlie Newell (football, cross-country and golf), Mark McLaughlin (rugby, football, cricket and cross country) and Peter Gaskell (triathlete) all scored higher than level 15.
