St. Mary's College Celebrates Links with Mount Carmel
St. Mary's College has been celebrating its links with Mount Carmel School in Ormskirk.
Principal, Michael Kennedy, visited the Aughton Park preparatory school to meet pupils who have passed the St Mary's entrance examination and will be taking up their places at the college in September.
Mr Kennedy commented: "As I am in my first year as Principal I thought I would take this opportunity to come and visit Mount Carmel School, with whom the college has enjoyed long-standing links. Every year we welcome a new group of Mount Carmel pupils to St Mary's. They are always very well prepared for the challenges that await them in terms of striving for academic excellence and achievement in music, sport and other extra-curricular activities. It was a pleasure to meet the pupils who will be joining us in the autumn. They are a credit to their parents and to Mount Carmel Headmistress Anne Eckersley and her staff," added Mr Kennedy.
St Mary's College was founded in 1919. Well-known former pupils include Archbishop Vincent Nichols, the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, and Lord John Birt, former Director-General of the BBC.
Mount Carmel School was established in 1958. It achieves very high standards whilst providing a unique caring, friendly atmosphere thanks to a school roll of just 70 pupils and its 14-strong teaching staff.
Michael Kennedy and Anne Eckersley are pictured with some of the Mount Carmel children who will be moving to St Mary's later in the year.
