St Mary's College has been paying tribute to one of the key figures in the recent development of the school.  The college held a memorial mass for the life of former Chair of Governors, Professor Tom Bell, who died earlier this year.  Tom Bell's family and friends and St Mary's governors and staff past and present attended the special service which was conducted by School Chaplain, Father Patrick Harnett.

Following the mass a eulogy was delivered by former St Mary's Principal Wilf Hammond who worked closely with Tom Bell during his time as Chair.  In a moving address Mr Hammond spoke of Professor Bell's expertise in his professional life - he was one of the world's most highly regarded surface engineering experts.  He also praised Tom Bell's dedication and commitment as a family man and as someone who really cared for St Mary's College where he himself had been educated as a child.
