Dance Show
There was an international flavour to proceedings when pupils at St Mary’s College presented their fourth annual dance extravaganza recently.
The show - called Around The World In Eighty MInutes - featured 40 talented young dancers from Years 7 to 10 at the senior school and Year 6 at the college prep school, The Mount.
Highlights included a flamenco dance from
There was even a haka, the traditional dance form of the Maori of New Zealand, famously performed by the All Blacks rugby union team as part of their pre-match preparations.
There were three performances of this year’s dance show - a preview for children in a local primary school followed by two sellout performances at the college for family and friends.
Around The World In Eighty MInutes was choreographed by St Mary’s Head of Girls PE, Sally Foster, and local dance teacher Jessica Tandy, with the help of the pupils.
Sally commented: “The girls really enjoyed taking part in the dance show and their enthusiasm helped to make the production a huge success again this year.
“What made this show special was the global nature of the routines, drawing on cultures from all over the world. This is something we will be looking to build on in future years.”
