St. Mary's Student on Song at Music Festival
Students from St Marys College in Crosby were on song at the recent Southport Music Festival.
Talented young performers from the school collected a string of prizes at the prestigious event after winning or being placed in the top three in their various classes.
Year 7 pupil Sophie Clarke was particularly successful this year, winning two prizes for solo singing - the Soroptimists Trophy for under 12s and the Patrick Oakes Memorial Trophy at under 14 level.
There were other outstanding performances from Nicholas Hicks, Melanie Gillam, Elizabeth Hancock and Alastair Cawdron.
St Marys Director of Music, Andrew Byers, commented: “As a school St Marys places music very high up the educational agenda and we are delighted at the success of these pupils in this leading festival.
“Their achievements reflect not only their musical talent but also the hard work and commitment they have put in over many years. They are a credit to the college,” added Mr Byers.
