Unfortunately, St. Mary's fixtures once again succumbed to the weather against St. Edward's at the weekend. The under 15 match was cancelled, however Robert Howat produced a fictitious match report on what may have been had the fixture gone ahead.

The match started off very quickly with 'giant' captain Rob Howat making a massive tackle on the St. Edwards skipper before the first minute. The incident won St. Marys a scrum on the St. Edwards 22 metre line and the ball came out to Paddy Power who 'barged' his way through the defensive line to score a well worked try. Chris Clarke converted.
The first half continued with St. Marys dominating with converted tries from Paddy Nevin and Ben Sloan. In the last play of the half, St.Edwards got a well deserved try.
The second half started with a sudden burst from the 22 by powerhouse Dom Allen. Reece Hogarth followed up to put his season’s points tally to 926. Chris Bartolo converted after. With the score at 28-7 St. Edwards decided to bring on there newly signed, 6ft 2inches European signing. After two minutes of substitution, the giant rammed his way through the St. Mary’s line to score a brilliant try. Midway into the second half Paddy McKenna set up a beautiful move with a punt stretching 60m where James Hale picked and went from a ruck to score his second try in 1 week. His run was due to the tremendous condition of the pitch due to the well thought- out pitch inspection the day before by Mr. Armstrong!! Minutes after the try St. Eddys came back with a beautiful move which left the St Mary’s team speechless! But one of Mr. Armstrongs heart felt encouragement speeches emotionally encouraged the team. After the St Mary’s players wiped the tears from their eyes they got back 2 tries in quick sucssesion by Jack Dwyer and Matty Lea which were perfectly converted by the always reliable kicker, Christopher Clarke which put the score to 47-12. With minutes left St. Mary’s decided to opt for the kick after a penalty for a high tackle. Tom Owens scored with the kick from 20 metres out. As the end drew near, number 7 David Vose opted for the drop kick from 56m and comfortably and calmy kicked it through the posts to finish the match at the score of 56-12 to St. Marys .
The after match hot dogs were perfectly prepared by Jackie.
