Success in Regional Trampolining Event
Talented young trampolinists from St. Mary’s College have got a spring in their step after success in a regional competition. Girls from the Crosby school took part in a range of individual and team categories in the North West heat of the British Schools Gymnastic Association (BSGA) national schools trampoline event in Macclesfield.
In the under 13 novice category, Kristina McLaughlin bagged first place in the individual competition and the St. Mary’s team finished in second place overall.
At under 15 level, Kristina’s sister Laura McLaughlin continued the family's winning ways by winning the novice competition for her age group. The sisters and two other St. Mary’s qualifiers - Jessica Bartolo and Sian Kemp-Ellis - will now compete in the northern zone finals of the event in Belfast at the end of the month. At this level they will take on top trampolinists from other BSGA regions including northern England, Yorkshire and the north Midlands and Northern Ireland.
St. Mary’s Head of Girls PE, Sally Townsley, said: “All our girls performed really well in Macclesfield. The skill and commitment they displayed was a credit to themselves and the school.
“In recent years St. Mary’s has built up an impressive track record in trampolining and we now hope that our qualifiers will go on to achieve even more success in the zonal finals.”
