Mr. L. Doherty, B.Ed., M.A., Cert. Ed. Miss H. Orrett, B.A. (Hons.), P.G.C.E. Introduction Drama offers a challenging course which promotes the development of social skills, as well as providing a strong academic background in the arts. Written skills are also developed, including the recording of individual progress and the examinations themselves. Previous experience of Drama is certainly helpful, but by no means essential. The subject is fully recognised by all universities: the content lends itself to students wishing to study either Drama of the Arts in general in further education. The specification provides for a lively combination of academic study and practical drama. Students will study a number of set texts, from a performance perspective, explore the work of leading theatre practitioners and attend live productions throughout the course. Students will also be assessed on their development and performances in a play or extract of their choice (AS) and their own devised drama (A2). |
