Development Plan
The Electronic Application Process for University applications has now been in operation for several years: students now make all their applications on line and tutors are encouraged to submit their statements to Mrs Marchbank by e-mail.
St. Mary's students on a visit to Oxbridge
The introduction of regular input from outside speakers now forms a regular part of the Careers programme. Parents and former pupils, who include successful people from a range of professions, have been asked to volunteer to come into school for a short talk and question and answer session with sixth form pupils. A database of such parents is currently being constructed and a Careers Evening which enables students and their parents to discuss their careers is held in the Spring term.
The library of books, leaflets and videos is being updated and it is hoped to further extend the use of computer software and the Internet. Mr McColgan is currently exploring ways to work with Connexions and to take advantage of their resources and experience. St Mary's students can view and download Connexions information on a wide range of University Courses via the College 'P' drive in the Careers folder.
