Dance Club
Dance Club Show - "Oh What a Night" Dance Club is a new aspect of the extra-curricular activities provided at St. Mary’s College and has been very popular. It was offered to years one and two initially who worked very hard to prepare their first performance at the College Open Evening in October for new pupils and parents. This gave numbers at the club a further boost and more pupils joined. The girls have been working hard since October and most have a group dance which they have worked on with their friends and they are also involved in a year dance. The intention is that the show will grow over the next few years and will eventually include pupils from all age groups. The result should be a lengthier show with greater pupils involved requiring a performance over two nights. The show will also play a large role in the introduction of GCSE PE. It is here where pupils who are being assessed in dance as a practical activity will display their work.
The show included 15 year 1 pupils, 15 year 2 pupils and 4 year 4 pupils. It was a 70’s theme called ‘Oh What a Night’ and was a very successful first performance raising £205.19 for equipment for next year’s show. It is hoped that it will become a major part of the tradition of St. Mary’s College and continue long into the future. |
