AS Entry Latin

Latin: Latin in the Sixth Form follows on from GCSE Latin and it is advisable, but not always essential, to have taken the GCSE course prior to study. The course is divided equally between unprepared translation and prepared literature, including such texts as the love poetry of Catullus or the Aeneid of Virgil. There is no coursework element. Past students of Latin at St Mary’s have progressed to study a variety of degrees including Classics and Archaeology courses at Oxford, Cambridge, Durham and other UK universities.

All the Classics and Latin teaching is carried out by two specialists who are convinced of the value of these subjects in the modern world and are committed to success in the teaching of them.
