I have to say when cynicism was being handed out I was at the top of the line and without going over old events that have personally coloured my view of the modern fighting man I was very pleasantly surprised at my recent trip to the commemoration. Veterans, as usual, seemed happy to chat and there was no under laying racism intentional or otherwise from others I spoke to. But what was really reassuring was the chat I has with the pictured cadet was nothing if not a role model for his peers. I said to him, "see you got the hard job today mate"..."far from it...I consider this an unbelievable honour" was his reply. I listened as the cadet was articulate and knowledgeable with all he met...so for those that complain about the young'uns shouldn't tar them all with the one brush.
