Year 9 Pupils attend Engineering Fair
As part of the St Mary's Careers Programme, Year 9 students from St Mary's enjoyed an interesting visit to an Engineering Fair at Aintree Racecourse this week.

24 boys and girls met students and lecturers from North West universities and representatives from companies such as Balfour Beatty and Unilever to find out about how the science they learn in school is used in Industry.

During the afternoon, they had "hands on" chances to use computers to design bridges, explore the construction and uses of microchips, use flight simulators and learn about the construction of racing cars and jet engines.

Teachers from the Chemistry, Biology and Careers Department also gained valuable information about what companies and Universities have to offer, as well as resources for lessons.
