Weekend's cricket results

In a busy weekend of cricket, all five teams played in glorious conditions. The under 12s played their first match and St. Mary's scored 125 for 7 thanks mainly to an outstanding score of 51 by Daniel Fitzpatrick on debut. Liverpool College were 61 for 9 in reply.

The under 13s won having posted 110 for 1 thanks mainly to Jamie Essex (51*) and Scott Snaylam 32. Liverpool College were cruising having posted an unbroken stand of over 50 runs for the first week. However, a devastating spell of 6 for 15 from Conor Dever and 3 for 13 from Scott Snaylam saw Liverpool bowled out for 88.

The under 14s lost by 4 runs despite 50 from Owen Griffiths and the under 15s lost by 6 wickets in the last over despite 53 from skipper Ben Sloan.

On Sunday the 1st XI played a strong Ormskirk School team and won by 10 runs. St. Mary's posted 132 for 8 with Ben Sloan again top scoring with 60, ably supported by Conor Allison, 32. Ormskirk fell 10 runs short having looked odds on for the win. An excellent catch by Jonathan Ford started the collapse and Jack Morris-Holland and Joe Reade bowled excellently at the death.
