SMC off to bright start against Liverpool College

St. Mary's got off to a solid start against Liverpool College in their first block fixture of the season winning threee matches, drawing one and losing one.

 

At Under 12 level, the spoils were shared as tries from Max Davies, Harry Howat and Luke Gordon earnt the College a 15 all draw.

 

At Under 13 level, SMC suffered their only defeat in the block going down 34-7 against a strong Liverpool outfit.

 

The under 14s won 21-10 and played some outstanding rugby getting off to the best possible start for the season.

 

The under 15s played some of their best rugby, running out eventual winners 22-19. A late try by Andreas Christophorou was the difference between the two sides. Ryan Hodge was man of the match for the under 15s and was outstanding.

 

At 1st XV level, SMC beat Liverpool for the first time in a long time. The result was a 16-3 victory thanks to a try from Danny Frost and a penalty and three conversions from Oliver Gallagher. The St. Mary's front five of Skipper Tom Manley, Jonny Bonner, Demitri Christophorou, Danny Frost and Michael Turnock dominated the opposition pack and laid the foundations for the victory.
