Football - 1st XI Victory
St Mary's First XI continued their unbeaten run against Merchant Taylor's First XI football team. The game started poorly for the college with a early goal against them from a silly free kick on the edge of our area. However after having almost all of the possession we found ourselves 2-0 behind after Merchants converted a penalty.
Half time 2-0
The second half saw a reshuffle that included our captain James Cotter back at the helm in the heart of defence. Jordan Riley came on up front and made an immediate impact racing onto a through ball a slotting it coolly past the keeper, 2-1. Lee Bailey produced some fine wing play and Tom Highton was solid in defence driving us forward at very opportunity. Alex Clark scored the much needed equaliser and then with ten minutes remaining Jordan Riley scored a superb solo effort to give the college a win. Well done gents, super effort.
