St. Mary's enjoyed their first clean sweep over St. Edward's for some years in a thrilling Saturday morning cricket block fixture.
The Under 12s batted first and thanks to an unbeaten 34 from Scott Snaylam, well backed up by Neil Bogle who scored 17 including a huge six they scored a very respectable 86 runs. In an exciting game, the result went down to the wire and St. Mary's squeezed home by 4 runs. The outstanding performance of the week came from Harry Nolan who took 6 wickets for 5 runs.
The Under 13s were a little more comfortable winners, bowling the opposition out for 73. Nick Jones did most of the damage with 5 for 16, all of which came in his last two overs. St. Mary's knocked the total off comfortably thanks to a third wicket partnership of 46 between Ben Wilson (30 not out) and 16 from Macauley Lawrenson.
The Under 14s scored a very respectable 123 for 4 off their 20 overs built around a fine 51 from captain Conor Allison and ably supported by Jack Dwyer 16, Will McKeand 19 and an unbeaten 14 from Ben Blackburn. This was always going to be enough after a very frugal start with the ball by St. Mary's with Will McKeand 1 for 4 off 4 overs and Michael Bowyer 1 for 3 off 3 overs. SMC eventually the winners by 28 runs.
In the Under 15 game St Mary's scored a massive 133 runs including a 97 partnership between Gavin Griffiths (55) and Jack Morris Holland 57 not out. St Edward's were dismissed for 79 as Orme, Alman, Taylor, Ratcliffe, Reade, Bradshaw, Griffiths and Ford all bowled tightly to restrict St. Edward's to just 79. Well done all. |
